Consequences in Performance Management | Supervision BCBA CEU Credits: 2

Original price was: $20.00.Current price is: $16.00.

This course will provide instruction on how to leverage various types of consequences as a leader and manager in an organization from a performance management practitioner perspective. The idea of reinforcement is expanded upon, including an analysis of verbally-mediated, rule-governed, indirect contingencies compared to direct reinforcement. Research is reviewed on the use of “reinforcers” such as Employee-of-the-Month, and how the use of penalties can impact staff behavior compared to the use of positive reinforcement. Finally, common applications of extinction in the workplace are explored, and tips are provided on best practices for the use of extinction, as well as reinforcers and punishers.ย

This course extends beyond the current BCBA and BCaBA Task Lists by addressing the nuanced use of consequences in workplace settingsโ€”including reinforcement (both positive and negative), punishment, extinction, and indirectly mediated contingencies like employee recognition programsโ€”which are not explicitly outlined in standard task list content. It remains fundamentally behavior-analytic in nature by grounding each topic in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) principles, examining how various consequences function to shape employee behavior, differentiating between direct and rule-governed contingencies, and highlighting best practices for applying reinforcement and extinction ethically and effectively. This course is designed for certified and aspiring behavior analystsโ€”especially those in supervisory or organizational rolesโ€”providing practical, research-informed tools for leveraging consequence-based strategies to enhance staff performance and organizational outcomes.
