This course explores the integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles into supervision practices. Participants will learn practical techniques to improve performance, motivation, and supervisory relationships while applying ACT’s core processes.
This course extends beyond the current BCBA and BCaBA Task Lists by integrating the core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)โsuch as cognitive defusion, values clarification, and committed actionโinto supervision practices, a content area not specifically addressed in existing task list competencies. It is behavior-analytic in nature, grounded in functional contextualism and rooted in evidence-based applied behavior analysis principles, translating ACT processes into actionable strategies for enhancing supervisee performance, motivation, and the supervisory relationship. Designed explicitly for certified and aspiring behavior analysts serving as supervisors, the course equips them with practical, research-informed tools to ethically and effectively apply contextual ACT methods to support supervisee growth within a behaviorally rigorous framework.
